Privacy policy

What offerpage records about businesses and their clients, why, and who else sees it.

Draft. This policy is a placeholder until offerpage launches and hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes what offerpage records today; the words in [brackets] are still to be filled in.

Who we are

offerpage is run by [company name], [address]. For anything about your data, write to [contact email].

If you send offers

When you create an account we record your email address and your password, stored only as a one-way hash we can't read back. For your business we keep its name, its payment note, the people on its team and their roles, and the invites it sends.

We store the offers you write, every version you send, and their timeline: when each was created, sent, opened, accepted, declined or withdrawn, and which teammate did it.

If you receive an offer

When you open an offer, we record that it was opened and when, so the business knows it arrived.

If you ask a question or decline, we keep the email address you give and what you write, and pass them to the business.

If you accept, we record the name you type, your email address, the time, the exact wording you agreed to, the version of the offer you saw, your IP address and your browser's description of itself. That record is what makes the signed copy trustworthy, for you and for the business, and we keep it for as long as the offer is kept: [retention period].

If you report an offer to us, we keep your report with your IP address and browser, and the business isn't told who reported it.

Email

offerpage sends email on behalf of businesses: offers to their clients, signed copies to both sides, questions and declines to the business, and team invites. We send it through Amazon Web Services' email service, which handles the addresses and contents to deliver them. We keep a copy of each message we send.

What we don't do

Where it's kept

[Hosting provider and location.] Our servers' logs record each request, with its IP address, to keep the service running and secure; they're kept for [log retention period].

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to [contact email]. Some records, such as a signed acceptance, may need to be kept for the business's and the client's protection; if so, we'll tell you why. [Rights under the laws that apply, and how to complain to a regulator.]

Changes

When this policy changes we'll update it here, and tell account holders about changes that matter.
